news, local news,

Preparation is ramping up ahead of the 321-GO Kids’ Race in November, with the Burnie Athletic Club taking over from Burnie City Council as event organizer. Club administrator and treasurer Mark Smith said the transfer was made easier due to two factors. “We were fortunate to maintain continuity both with HCI (Health Insurance) as the main sponsor, but also with the existing committee, which manages the day and plans it,” he said. IN OTHER NEWS: Although this is the club’s first time hosting the event, HCI will be the naming rights sponsor for the 10th year. “This campaign is a very important part of our community support program,” said Michelle Wade, CEO of HCI. “We do a lot of different things at the community level, but it’s probably the cornerstone of our campaign here in Burnie.” The event will take place on November 7 and will feature six races for boys and girls in three age groups. Registration is now open and will cost $ 18 per participant and $ 50 for a family of three or more.
