Gardening tips October 8, 2022 | Columnists

I was in the Adirondacks a few days ago and it was at peak coloring. We’re still a week or two away from that stage here, but if it’s even half as beautiful as what I just observed, we’re in for a treat! We’ve also had more than enough rain to almost wipe out our deficit for 2022, at least in my area, with over 8 inches recorded in my rain gauge last month.

When and “if” the ground dries out a bit, I will try to plant my 2023 garlic crop as soon as possible. The best time to plant garlic in our region is from mid-September to mid-October. I can wait a week or two, but the window is closing.
